    Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum
    This former house of Joshua Chamberlain, a civil war hero, Maine governor, and president of Bowdoin College was almost demolished in 1983. Today, it is open for tours in the summer, and is further restored in the winter.

    Skolfield-Whittier House
    This historic home is in its original 1925 condition, complete with such items as spices in the kitchen from the 20s. Its seventeen rooms are viewed during guided tours in the Summer and Fall only, as the unheated home is too cold in the winter. A true time-capsule of Maine.
