This site features a granite and bronze sculpture celebrating American naval hero John Paul Jones. Born in Scotland, Jones was a commander during the American Revolutionary War and his exploits are memorialized here. In 1777 the U.S.S. Ranger was built and launched at this site. The Maine Sailors and Soldiers Memorial is also located here.
