Port Clyde Lighthouses
• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide to Lighthouses in Port Clyde, Maine.
The original lighthouse on Marshall Point was built in 1832 but was replaced by the current structure in 1858. A bell tower was added in 1898 and the lamp was first electrified in 1935. Visitors to the lighthouse can learn more about its history at the Marshall Point Lighthouse Museum.
Situated on Mohegan Island, which is located about 10 mi (16 km) southwest of Port Clyde, this lighthouse has a long history of signaling what was the first stop for many approaching the Maine coast. The present stone tower was built in 1850 (replacing an older version built in 1824) and the nearby keeper's dwelling now houses the Mohegan Museum, which is open daily from June through September.
