Rockland Lighthouses
The lighthouse was officially operational in 1902 and equipped with a flashing white light. Today, the Friends of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse group are dedicated to the restoration of the lighthouse. Volunteers staff the open houses, which are scheduled for weekends 9:00AM to 5:00PM from the end of May to the middle of October.
Situated in the heart of Midcoast Maine, this Rockland museum showcases the history of the coast's long-standing traditions and heritage of the area's lighthouses and Coast Guard. The museum is open June through October and features lighthouse lenses, keepers' stories and other lighthouse memorabilia. Occasional tours to the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse.
