    Fort Preble
    Fort Preble was built in 1808 as a military fortress to defend Portland Harbor. Within the confines of the fort's walls is the Portland Harbor Museum. This museum contains historic artifacts and information from the area. Fort Preble is located on the campus of Southern Maine Community College.

    Kennebunkport Historical Society Center

    Comprised of five historic buildings, the Kennebunkport Historical Society's History Center allows people to delve into the town's history through a series of exhibits. Numerous displays are found inside the Pasco Exhibit Center, such as memorabilia, artifacts and pictures, or through the restored Town House School, Clark's Shipwright's Office, Old Jail Cells and the Blacksmith Shop, each examples of days gone by.     Laudholm Farm

    Since it was claimed in 1642, Laudholm Farm has only belonged to four families and boasts a rich heritage for visitors learn about. Encompassing the farm is a bird sanctuary where people can spend the day watching the bird species, walking through the trails and visiting the restored buildings and displays on the property.

    Fort Edgecomb State Historic Site

    The Nott House

    Since 1853, The Nott House in Kennebunkport has stood as a landmark in the town. Managed by the Kennebunkport Historical Society, this house welcoming visitors to virtually step back in time as they admire the furnishings, wallpaper, artifacts and carets found inside the house. Tours are offered from mid-June until mid-October, Tuesday through Saturday beginning at 10am.

    Wadsworth-Longfellow House
    Three generations of the Wadsworth-Longfellow family lived in this house in Portland, with the most famous being the poet, Henry Wadsworth-Longfellow. The house is reportedly Portland's first totally brick dwelling, built in 1785-86. Open to the public from May to October and holiday hours in November and December.

    Deertree Theatre and Cultural Center

    The Deertree Theater is located above Harrison. It is made of rose hemlock and can seat up to 300 guests. The non-profit center presents over 40 productions during the season. Favorite annual events include the Deertrees Theater Festival, the Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival, the Children’s Wednesday Series and the BackStage Gallery.

    The Schoolhouse
    Operating from 1901 to 1953, the Schoolhouse in Wells represents the time of education in rural communities. Desks with inkwells, a wood heating stove, a two-holed toilet and many other artifacts remain in the building for people to see. Tours are offered in July and August on Thursdays from 1:30pm to 4pm and by appointment in the fall and spring.

    Skolfield-Whittier House
    This historic home is in its original 1925 condition, complete with such items as spices in the kitchen from the 20s. Its seventeen rooms are viewed during guided tours in the Summer and Fall only, as the unheated home is too cold in the winter. A true time-capsule of Maine.

    This former house of Joshua Chamberlain, a civil war hero, Maine governor, and president of Bowdoin College was almost demolished in 1983. Today, it is open for tours in the summer, and is further restored in the winter.

    Victoria Mansion, Inc.

    Guided tours of Victoria Mansion, one of the High Victorian period's greatest houses, enable the visitor to see the mansion's interior, which is still over 90 per cent original.
