Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve encompasses the Laudholm Farm in its 1,600-acre reach. Also a bird sanctuary, the area was chosen because of two rivers adjacent to the farm that flow into the ocean forming estuaries and nesting areas. Hill Gardens is two-and-a-half acres of maintained walk-through idea gardens in the Maine woods. The gardens feature Hosta and Daylily collections as well as demonstrations. Open daily from May through Labor Day, by reservation only, the island has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can camp, hike, canoe, kayak, bike and wildlife watch. A maximum of 60 people are allowed on the island at one time. Campers are limited to a stay of two nights.

This all-natural beef farm is located 5 miles outside of town on 600 acres along Casco Bay. The farm is home to cows, sheep, chickens, goats and a donkey. Visitors are welcome every day from 9-5, and there is no admission fee. Explore trails and a welcome center featuring the history of the area. On site store is open Mon-Fri: 1-5pm, Sat: 10am-4pm.
